AITC Venture Capital is an investment management firm established to take advantage of the Alberta Investor Tax Credit (the "AITC") program (the "Program") introduced by the Alberta government in January 2017. This tax credit was introduced as part of the Alberta Jobs Program in an effort to help diversify Alberta from being so dependent on oil and gas. A general discussion of the Program can be found here. The Program is designed to provide investors with a 30% Alberta tax credit when they invest in qualifying corporations. Qualifying corporations are required to meet a number of criteria, including the fact that they must be either carrying on business in one of four approved categories as an "eligible business corporation" or they must be focused on making investments into corporations that carry on business in one of the four approved categories.
