CarbonApps LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates VC Sift at vcsift.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account data: When you register, we collect your email address and optional display name.
Usage data: We log search queries, filter selections, export activity, and page views to improve the Service.
Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. CarbonApps LLC does not store full credit card numbers or sensitive payment credentials.
Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence.
2. Investor Database Data
The VC Sift investor database contains publicly available professional information collected from public sources, including names, firm affiliations, professional email addresses, LinkedIn profiles, and investment focus data. This information relates to individuals acting in their professional capacity as investors.
If you are an investor who wishes to have your information removed from our database, please email hello@vcsift.com with the subject "Data Removal Request." We will process your request within 30 days.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, account notices)
- To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
- To respond to your inquiries and support requests
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Resend / Amazon SES — transactional email delivery.
Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection.
5. Cookies
VC Sift uses cookies for session management and to remember your login state. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@vcsift.com. Export logs are retained for up to 12 months for fraud prevention.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@vcsift.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use the Service at your own risk.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
