Alastair worked in media production for the BBC before re-training in medicine. In addition to experience in the unquoted life sciences sector, he has spent several years managing a multi-sector quoted company portfolio, weighted towards the small cap sector. Alastair holds degrees in Philosophy (University of Durham) and Science Communication (Imperial College), as well as Medicine (Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry).
