When Alistair joined Actis in 2004, he was coming off a highly successful career in the developed markets. Attracted to the dynamism and huge economic potential of the emerging markets, he was intent on discovering new opportunities in Africa, Latin America, South Asia and South East Asia. As Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of the Investment Committee, Alistair is responsible for overseeing all of Actis’s investment activities. Alistair has been in private equity for over 20 years, first at 3i and more recently at PPM Capital, the private equity business of Prudential. High-profile deals which he has led include, the MBI of UK gaming group Gala, the buy-out of TMF Group, a leading global management and accounting outsourcing business in the Netherlands, and the buy-and-build deals that created Australian Envelopes.
