Avner Ronen is the founder and CEO of [Boxee](/organization/boxee), a freeware media player software platform. Prior to founding Boxee, Avner co-founded Odigo, an instant messaging service. Avner worked with the Odigo team from its founding in 1998 until its purchase by [Comverse](/organization/comverse-technology) in [2002 for $20M](http://www.internetnews.com/ent-news/article.php/1141181). Avner stayed on with Comverse as the VP Corporate Strategy & Business Development until early 2007. Named one of Rolling Stone's "Agents of Change" for 2009, prior to boxee Ronen was the Head of Corporate Development and M&A for Comverse, Inc. a leading provider of software and service to Telecom service providers. Ronen was responsible for acquisitions valued at $450M, which were key to the company's evolution from a Voicemail company to a Billing and VAS provider.
