Derek is Vice President & Chief of Staff at 7wire Ventures, where he works with early-mid stage companies. His focus is in healthcare and other industries where there is both strong disruptive growth potential and the opportunity to help solve some of society’s most pressing challenges. Derek works with the leadership of portfolio companies to maximize their growth and performance, as well as evaluating new investment opportunities for 7wire. Previously, Derek served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor’s Economic Council in the City of Chicago Mayor’s Office where he led teams designing, creating, and implementing internal reforms and economic policy for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, as well as serving as the City’s lead policy negotiator on several major reforms. Before his time at the Mayor’s Office, Derek was a Case Team Leader for Bain & Company where he led consulting teams on corporate strategy projects.
