Equitable Life is the first and oldest mutual life assurance company in the UK. It was established in 1762 and was set up and run for its members and remains a mutual life assurance company today. They are a savings, investment and pensions company. We closed to new business on 8 December 2000. They are based in London and Aylesbury, where we employ about 240 staff. They look after the savings and investments for over 300,000 people and have £6.3bn funds under management. Their driving objective is to recreate policyholder value.
