I’m dedicated and passionate about supporting patients who will undergo surgery. My interest and focus in this area developed through my previous experience working in the medical device industry. Spending time in hospitals, operating rooms and through learning about surgical quality improvement initiatives, I became aware of the fact that a patient's surgical care focuses only on the procedure itself. This is a narrow approach that leaves a patient completely unprepared and vulnerable. Major surgery is often compared to a marathon. A marathon causes significant stress, and nobody would dream of attempting without diligent training, and mentally preparing. We know that preparing for surgery is similar to a marathon, if you include exercise and use proper nutrition, you increase your chances of a positive result.
