Educated in the Netherlands, Business at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and at Insead, France. Fred had worked as general manager, Chief Executive Officer and Board member for international industrial companies and as an entrepreneur. Prior to his executive roles he started his career with Royal Dutch Shell in marketing and trading positions. His industry experience ranges from oil, chemicals and industrial gas to packaging, logistics and shipping with companies such as Linde and Smurfit Kappa. He also successfully managed some business turn around situations. His experience is highly international with emphasis on Europe and emerging economies. He assisted in updating the sustainability strategy of Dow Jones Sustainability Index leader AkzoNobel and served as director innovation and strategic marketing of this global coatings and chemicals company.
