Gary has over 10 years experience in management consulting to major corporations and became the CEO of the company which he and Reuel Khoza founded, called Co-ordinated Marketing & Management (Pty) Ltd in 1986. He later became CEO of the first investment vehicle they founded, CNI. Gary's prior working experience was with Ford Motor Company in the strategy and marketing area. Gary became the Non-Executive Chairman of two listed investee companies, Datacentrix Holdings Limited and IST Group Limited, at their listing in the technology sector of the JSE Limited in1998. From 2001 to 2006 Gary assumed the role of Executive Chairman and CEO of Datacentrix, leading its transformation and growth and profitability about ten fold to over R1 billion in sales. Besides the company's operational strength, it also received recognition as being a company with leading empowerment credentials on the JSE, as well as awards for good corporate governance, financial reporting and board effectiveness.
