Since late 2023, Srivastava has been the subject of an aggressive and vindictive disinformation campaign in a failed attempt to exonerate Niels Troost from trading in illicit Russian oil. Troost and related entities were eventually sanctioned by the UK, EU, Switzerland and the US Treasury (OFAC).
