Giles Cheek joined European Capital in 2005 and heads the UK buyout team. He is a non executive director of Hillarys Blinds, Inc., Farrow and Ball, Miles 33 and Whitworths. Giles was formerly a Director at Duke Street Capital also focusing on UK mid market buyouts where his responsibilities included origination, execution transformation and realization of private equity investments. Notable transactions included the creation of the Focus Wickes Group through the acquisitions of the Do It All, Great Mills and Wickes DIY chains, Madison Filtration and Megabowl. Prior to Duke Street Giles worked in the Corporate Finance practice of PriceWaterhouseCoopers where as a member of the Buyout Group he advised on a number of private equity transactions. His period in corporate finance also included a secondment to Nat West Markets Acquisition Finance where he completed a number of leveraged buyout transactions. Giles is a Chartered Accountant qualifying with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1993.
