I was raised among machines that breathed color. While other kids played with toys, I played with paper swatches, ink smells, and the rhythmic sound of printers. My family’s printing business was my first design school, long before I knew the word “design” itself. That early curiosity grew into a path, first formally, when I completed my BFA in Visual Communication Design, and then professionally, as I stepped into the world of advertising and production, shaping ideas into things people could see, touch, and feel. Life was comfortable, familiar, but I felt a pull to explore further. So I paused stability and chose growth. I moved abroad to pursue my master’s in Dynamic Media, a decision that taught me as much about distance as it did about design. Being away from my wife and children made me ask a question that became the heart of my thesis: how do we bring presence back to long-distance relationships?
