Over the past 46 years, Jim has been involved in creating some of the most successful companies and products in the networking industry. As a venture partner with Redpoint Ventures and earlier Brentwood Venture Capital, he worked closely with a variety of portfolio companies in the telecommunications and networking space, including TransMedia (acquired by Cisco), FreeGate (acquired by Tut Systems), Lightera (acquired by Ciena) and Vivace (acquired by Tellabs). Prior to joining Brentwood, Jim was President and CEO of OnStream Networks, which was sold to 3Com for $254 million, and before that, President and CEO of Larscom. He has also held senior management positions in 3Com, GDC, Timeplex, Doeltz Networks, and was on the board of Overture Networks. He started his career on the Codex team that developed the first 9600 BPS modem in 1968. Jim attended Lowell University and completed the Executive M.B.A. program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
