Joe moved into Private Equity in 2003 as an operating partner with Terra Firma, and then had the same role at Strategic Value Partners from 2007 to June 2011, when he joined Actis. In those prior operating partner roles, Joe was responsible for a total of 8 businesses in both Europe and the US, in a range of business sectors. Prior to becoming an operating partner, Joe led a number of businesses over a period of some 13 years, including being Managing Director of Dillons Bookstores and of Sony United Kingdom and Chief Executive, Newspapers, at Trinity Mirror plc. His broad and varied business experience has included both strategic and operational responsibility. He was also a non executive director at Channel 4 Television from 1998 to 2004. Joe joined Actis as a partner and as Head of the Value Creation Group in mid 2011, and has built a formidable VCG team at Actis, based in our markets and adding considerable value to Actis portfolio businesses.
