John McCarter is Chair of the Board of Regents, Smithsonian Institution. He is President Emeritus of the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, where he served as President and CEO for sixteen years. He is a Board Member of Argonne National Laboratory, the Chicago Humanities Festival, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the Marine Biological Laboratory, the National Recreation Foundation, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (USA), and the Prize to End Blindness by 2020.
