From 1989 to 2001, he was a member of J.P. Morgan Capital, where he led the firm's private equity investment effort in communications and media-related industries and served on the Investment Committee and Board. During this time, he led investments and was on the Boards of Directors of fourteen portfolio companies including founding or co-founding seven of them. Portfolio companies included Affinity Internet, Columbia River Cellular, FrontierVision Partners, Horizon Cellular, Inference Corporation, Prism Radio, SaVVIS Communications, Triton Cellular, and Triton PCS. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Capital, Mr. Watkins was an Associate in J.P. Morgan's Corporate Finance group and an Investment Banking Analyst at E.F. Hutton and Company. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Mobi PCS, AccentHealth and Spin Media. Mr. Watkins received a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
