John L. Walker is a retired Partner of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York City, where he practiced banking and corporate law for 30 years. At Simpson Thacher, Mr. Walker advised financial institutions regarding banking law and regulatory matters, including with respect to capital, securitization, merchant banking, and bank insolvency issues. He represented many of the largest domestic and foreign commercial banks, investment banks and private equity funds. A principal focus of his practice related to the convergence of the commercial and investment banking businesses and the consolidation of financial institutions. Mr. Walker has been ranked as one of the world’s leading banking lawyers. Prior to his career at Simpson Thacher, Mr. Walker was an attorney at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C.
