Dr. Katherine Cohen has over 20 years of business and leadership experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. In summer 2011 she led the establishment of Hookipa Biotech in Vienna, Austria and raised € 7 million in Series A financing. Since then she has built the start up into an innovative early-stage vaccine company and in October 2013, she successfully raised € 20 million from international blue chip venture investors including Sofinnova Partners, Forbion Capital Partners, Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund, Takeda Ventures and BioMedPartners. Dr. Cohen was formerly Senior Vice President at Intercell AG. In her 12 year tenure at the vaccine biotech from 1999 to 2010, she was part of the leadership team responsible for building up and transforming the company from a start-up to a major vaccine player reaching a market cap over 1 billion Euro in 2007-2009.
