Marcos began his journey by founding one of the first pager companies in Brazil, even before the advent of smartphones, becoming the third-largest company in Latin America in that segment. His second company was Itatel, that explored trunking communication businesses Subsequently, anticipating the internet bubble in the 2000s, Marcos founded Zip.Net, one of Latam's largest internet portals, sold to Portugal Telecom for $500MM in 2000.
