Melanie Robinson was appointed Executive Director for the United Kingdom at the Board of the World Bank Group in August 2015. From 1994 till 2001, Ms. Robinson did research and voluntary work in the U.K., South Africa, Nepal, Ghana, and Kenya. Between 2000 and 2015, she held various positions in the Department of International Development (DfID) of the U.K. Government in London. From 2002 through 2004, she was a Senior Programme Officer at DfID in Maputo, Mozambique. Prior to joining the Board, she was Country Director for DfID in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ms. Robinson was also Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, DfID, in London (2005-2007); and Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, DfID, in London (2010-2012). Ms. Robinson holds a MA in Modern History from the University of Oxford, and has an MPhil in Development Studies from Sussex University.
