Michael Shin joined American Capital as a Principal in May 2005. Mike is responsible for leading and executing strategic procurement initiatives across American Capital portfolio companies to reduce total cost of ownership, improve working capital turns and implement world-class procurement practices. These initiatives encompass strategic global sourcing for major spend categories, best practice sharing in indirect spend procurement and executing “make vs. buy” outsourcing, insourcing, offshoring and reshoring strategies. Prior to joining American Capital, Mike was the Head of Global Procurement for Stanley Works where he had leadership responsibility for worldwide spend base of $1.2 billion and a global organization of 80 procurement professionals. Mike started his career with GE in manufacturing and transitioned to a variety of multi-functional roles including a stint with the GE Corporate Audit Staff.
