As a computer scientist with a passion for robotics, Dr. Nasir Ahsan has always been intrigued by how machine learning can address the fundamental perceptual and control challenges involved in building intelligent robots. He was fortunate to be taught by some of the world’s leading experts in artificial intelligence at the Australian Center for Field Robotics and UNSW. He has also lectured at NUST in Pakistan, where he managed several projects including developing an Autonomous Air Vehicle. Over the last 18 years, Nasir worked in a variety of different industries such as molecular biology, marine ecology, mining, land management, agriculture, and deep-water exploration. In fact, one of his proudest moments was being the first Pakistani to set sail on the Nautilus EV (with Bob Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic) exploring the depths of the Caribbean and Pacific oceans.
