Nurbek Rayev is a Director at WhiteHill and runs Investment Banking practice. Prior to co-founding WhiteHill, Nurbek was a Director at Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, a $630m infrastructure fund focused on infrastructure investments in CIS in energy, transportation sectors. He was a Managing Partner at Al Falah Partners, a $500m private equity fund targeting energy investments in Kazakhstan. His public sector career includes a post of a Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade of Kazakhstan in charge of development of 5-year Industrial Plan of Kazakhstan, prior to that he held a position of a Chairman of the National Innovation fund, a state-owned fund of venture capital funds. While serving at the National Innovation Fund of Kazakhstan, he led a 5 mln USD investment in Vertex Ventures, which then successfully invested and exited from Waze that was acquired by Google for 1.1 bn USD.
