The Oregon Translational Research and Development Institute (OTRADI) has operated the state’s only non-profit, proof-of-concept bioscience laboratories, with unique robotic equipment and scientific expertise found nowhere else in Oregon. OTRADI has used its expertise and equipment to generate more than $1 million of revenue to support its scientific expansion and outreach. In 2013, OTRADI added incubation to its offerings, providing lab and office space, in addition to expertise to bioscience startup companies in Oregon. The original incubator on Portland’s South Waterfront, OTRADI Bioscience Incubator (OBI), was completely full within several weeks of opening its 13,000 square foot facility. In 2015 the OBI expanded by 3,800 square feet, adding 15 new companies to the facility that also is now 100 percent full.
