Peter relishes the adrenalin buzz and high pressure of the deal-making but he really enjoys watching the transformation of the portfolio companies and their management teams, once the “magic” of private equity has positively transformed the business. Peter grew up in South Africa and has worked in South African private equity for 18 years; at Actis he has been responsible for the operational management of the African and Latin American private equity businesses, working from Johannesburg. Peter joined Actis in 2004 from Ethos Private Equity where he spent eleven years, originating and leading ten MBO / LBOs including two of the largest private equity deals in Africa to date, Waco International, while at Ethos; and Alexander Forbes at Actis. Prior to joining Ethos, Peter spent three years as a corporate finance adviser for Anglo American plc in South Africa and three years at Price Waterhouse.
