About
Phillipa joined Duvas in November 2017. She brings experience in X-ray spectroscopy and optical imaging from her history in space instrumentation. Using experimental and computer modelling techniques, she obtained her PhD in the characterisation and optimisation of an X-ray detector for mapping the elemental composition of the surface of the Moon. She has worked for a summer at NASA, where she contributed to the landing site selection criteria for future lunar missions, and also assisted the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In her post-doc position she turned to optical imaging, working on a microscope system to image samples before being analysed in a mass spectrometer system on a European Space Agency (ESA) mission.
