Rahul N. Merchant is an Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at TIAA-CREF since April 2015. Previously, Rahul has served as New York City’s first Citywide Chief Information and Innovation Officer and as Commissioner of the Department of Information, Technology and Telecommunications from March 2012 to April 2014. Previously, Rahul served as executive vice president, chief information officer and member of the Executive Committee at Fannie Mae, where he led the technology and operations groups. Rahul also served as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Merrill Lynch & Co. Rahul has extensive computer industry and public board experience as a former Member of the Board of Directors at Emulex Corp., Fair Isaac Corporation, Sierra Atlantic, Level 3 Communications, Inc. and Sun Microsystems.
