My path to venture is not an obvious one. In college, I had the opportunity to produce several seasons of contemporary theater that required me to hire directors, build casts, and pitch financial backers on a creative vision. To be successful at producing, you had to be both hyper-passionate about the mission and incredibly focused on the details, which really is not all that dissimilar to the entrepreneurial experience. After college, I worked with several brands including Chanel and The Walt Disney Company to help build models and tools to support the sales and business development teams. Not quite content with having such a singular focus on the top line, venture seemed like an obvious next step for the opportunity to think through both the numbers-driven and intensely creative sides of business. I was drawn to joining General Catalyst because there is a diversity in backgrounds and approaches here. The team is thesis-oriented and engaging with companies with unique missions is high
