About

Rich Crandall is an Associate Partner in the NewSchools Venture Fund’s Oakland office, where he splits his time between planning NewSchools’ annual Summit and Community of Practice events, and the work on the National Network of Charter Schools to enhance college readiness and success. Prior to joining NewSchools, Rich was the K-12 Lab Director at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford (also known as the “d.school”). At the d.school Rich worked to instill creative confidence in innovators across the K-12 system – from district leaders to kindergartners. Rich is thrilled to be at NewSchools helping entrepreneurs to realize their big ideas of making meaningful change in education. Rich studied mathematics at Colgate University and has his MBA from Stanford University. He first worked in Oakland as high school math teacher through Teach For America, where he lives with his wife Heather and their pug Payton.
