Prior to joining Care Capital, Mr. Markham was the Vice Chairman of the Management Board and COO of Aventis. Previously he was the CEO of Aventis Pharma, the CEO of Hoechst Marion Roussel, and the President and COO of Marion Merrell Dow, Inc. and a member of its board of directors. From 1973 to 1993, Mr. Markham was associated with Merck & Co., Inc., culminating in his position as President and COO. Prior to this role, Mr. Markham held a number of positions, starting as a professional representative and then becoming district manager, product manager and director, executive director and then VP of Marketing for the Merck Sharp & Dohme Division. He later was responsible for Merck’s European pharmaceutical business before being named Senior Vice President of Merck & Co. and President of the Merck Human Health Division, responsible for worldwide marketing and sales of Merck’s pharmaceutical products.
