Bob Johnson has been a member of BB&T’s Legal Department since February of 2005. On January 1, 2014, Bob was named to BB&T’s Executive Management Team. In September, 2010, he assumed the roles of General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Corporate Governance Officer. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Bob was a Deputy General Counsel responsible for the Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate, Securities and Regulatory Practice Groups. Prior to BB&T, he was in private practice with the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio, providing counsel to financial institutions and their affiliates. His practice included all aspects of general corporate and commercial representation with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance matters, and securities law representation, including public and private equity and debt offerings and compliance issues relating to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the Securities Act of 1934, and the stock exchange rules.
