The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) operates six grantmaking programs to promote social change that contributes to a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world. Democratic Practice, Peace building, and Sustainable Development are three of its thematic programs that aims to strengthen the vitality of democracy, secure just and durable peace, and advance solutions to climate change in the United States and globally. The foundation’s place-based programs are in New York City, Southern China, and the Western Balkans. In 1991, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund leased from the National Trust for Historic Preservation the portion of the Rockefeller estate bequeathed to the Trust by Nelson Rockefeller. Subsequently, the foundation created The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in the estate’s Coach Barn as an extension of its grantmaking activities. The Rockefeller Brothers Fund was founded in 1940 and is based in New York, United States.
