Dr. Roger Gothmann is the co-founder and MD of Taxdoo, a Hamburg-based TaxTech company transforming from Europe's leading VAT compliance platform into an AI-powered real-time accounting solution for e-commerce. Before founding Taxdoo in 2016, he spent more than a decade in the German federal and state tax administration, including as a tax auditor at the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt). He holds a doctorate from the University of Hamburg and degrees from the University of Bonn. As a lecturer, he has delivered over 1,000 seminars for tax professionals through institutions including NWB, IFU, and Dr. Endriss. He is a founding member of the TeCIT Club. As an angel investor, he backs early-stage tech companies at the intersection of technology and regulation — including Tangany, traide, Plancraft, Cbamboo, and n8n. He hosts the podcast and newsletter Skin in the Game, covering transformation, Private Equity, and AI in the German tax advisory market.
