Honors graduate in both degrees – one being a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture majoring in soil science from Pembangunan Nasional University of Yogyakarta (Karya Cendekia Awards in 2003). The other one a Masters of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Gadjah Mada University (Best Graduate) in 2010. Sekti has worked with many partners, both local and international, both corporate and non-governmental throughout her career. She started lecturing in UPN (University Pembangunan Nasional) as an assistant lecturer for General Pedology and Environmental Biology in Environmental Engineering. Sekti was also active with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and also the International Organisation of Migration (IOM).
