Shirish Apte is Co-Chairman of Asia Pacific Banking. From 2009-2011, he was Chief Executive Officer of Citi Asia Pacific with direct responsibility for South Asia, including Australia, India and ASEAN countries. Prior to that, Mr. Apte served as CEO of Citi's Central & Eastern European Region, which includes some of the fastest-growing emerging markets. Previously, Mr. Apte was CEO of Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEEMEA), Citi Markets & Banking, and before that, he was Country Manager and Deputy President of Citibank Handlowy, Poland. Mr. Apte was instrumental in Citigroup acquiring Bank Handlowy, Poland in 2000 and led the merger of Bank Handlowy into Citigroup.
