It was a taste for adventure that led Torbjorn to the emerging markets but it’s his commitment to making a difference that has guided his career ever since. Torbjorn began his working life building power plants in Egypt for leading engineering firm ABB and stayed with them for 13 years working in Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Singapore, developing, building and investing in the emerging markets power sector. But he left in 1999 to found an internet technology company during the dotcom boom followed by a combined heat and power business, two ventures that drove home the importance of capital and the challenges of building a business. Torbjorn joined Actis in 2007 from Actis portfolio company Globeleq, where he was CEO. He is now Co-head of Actis's Energy business, with specific responsibility for its power-related activities.
