Launched in the fall of 2001, Washington Capital Ventures is looking to find and fund early stage, East Coast-based technology companies. Lev Volftsun worked in the international communications market until the mid nineties when he left a senior role in a major corporation to build his own company, Lightspeed International. His vision was to develop a radical new, open systems based software control platform from which service providers could build and develop new services much faster and more efficiently than previously possible. This vision gave birth to the first ‘soft switch’ architecture, now the standard for emerging and evolving carriers’ worldwide, enabling them to offer VOIP services equivalent or better to their traditional telephony products.
